Filaments from the Polish manufacturer Devil Design are offered in a wide range of colors, the computer gray color is new since September 2017. The manufacturer guarantees the thickness of the printing string +/- 0.05 mm. We recommend it to beginning printers who want to print in color without the need to purchase large, expensive rolls.
The 1kg coil is vacuum packed together with the moisture absorber and placed in a cardboard box.
Coil weight including packaging 1.4 kg.
Suitability of using PLA: PLA is easy to print, it is biodegradable (therefore also environmentally friendly). However, it is a material that is not suitable for outdoor use, it degrades and becomes brittle when exposed to UV radiation. It is also not heat resistant. Already at 30°C - 50°C, prints become soft and deformed. Therefore, it is not suitable to carry the prints in cars. PLA is a flammable material. Therefore, we recommend not leaving the printer unattended for long periods of time when printing with this material.
PLA surface treatment - the material cannot be sanded easily, sanding (friction) generates heat, which causes "pulling" of the fibers from the print. Therefore, it is advisable to cool the print when sanding by hand, e.g. by sanding it under water. For the same reason, it is difficult to drill holes in the printout (again, the heating problem). It is advisable to spray the material first with a filler (used in model making) and then sand it, spray it again and keep going until the model is perfectly smooth for us and then spray it with paint. The resulting model can also be placed in a "grinding machine" together with shells, stones, remnants of filaments, pieces of prints and thus get rid of unwanted errors, remnants of supports, etc.
Gluing PLA: instant glue with spray activator (sometimes instant glue alone is enough).
Recommended PLA printing settings: Use commonly used nozzles (brass) for printing. We choose the diameter of the nozzle according to the smoothness of the surface we want to achieve, or according to the setting of the layer strength during printing. There is a calculation formula for this optimal setting, no less than a simple rule of +/- 0.2mm is sufficient - i.e. if we want a layer thickness of 1.25 mm, the nozzle should not have a diameter greater than 0.3 mm. For larger layers, we use a nozzle with a larger diameter, for weaker ones, on the contrary, with a smaller one.
Substrate temperature - no heating is necessary or just for better adhesion of the material to the substrate up to 50°C.
Recommended settings: Print temperature: 208°, retraction 0.8 mm, speed 60 mm/s (outline 70%), layer 0.2 mm - 0.05 mm. When using a printer with PEI foil, it is necessary to degrease the pad well. The resulting print is smooth, relatively glossy, without visible errors.
Printing PLA material with supports - suitable supports for prints are from the same material, i.e. PLA or PVA (water-soluble material), HIPS is not suitable.
We recommend ensuring a dry environment for storage. If stored poorly in a humid environment, it absorbs moisture, which manifests as bubbles on the surface during printing.
